Foods that Reduce Anxiety: How to Ease Stress with Anti-Anxiety Food

They say that you are what you eat, and that’s particularly true when it comes to anxiety. If you’ve ever felt stressed out for apparently no reason, the answer may actually lie in your diet. Sugars aren’t the only types of foods that trigger anxiety, though. Heavily processed foods like processed meats, breads, and cheeses can also cause stress. That’s because they’re low in fiber and can wreak havoc on your gut microbiome.

As a result, they increase inflammation throughout the body. Since inflammation and stress appear to be connected, increasing inflammation may lead to increased anxiety.

If you want to end up reducing your overall anxiety, you can cut out these processed foods and products high in sugar. However, there’s also a shortcut that you may be able to take: CBD.

Without further ado, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Below, we’ll break down how to make an anxiety-busting CBD smoothie. It’s one of the tastiest, simplest foods that help with anxiety.

Ingredients

  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Mango
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut water
  • .5 – 1mL (a dropper) of CBD oil
  • OPTIONAL: plain yogurt or cape gooseberries

Preparation

First, peel and slice banana and mango. Next, grate the ginger into small shavings. Then, mix all the ingredients into a blender. Blend on high power until smooth. Finally, split between two glasses and serve. Chill any unfinished smoothie and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

For a next-level smoothie, add plain yogurt into the mix. Plain yogurt has a ton of protein, which this smoothie is otherwise lacking. As we mentioned earlier, protein acts as a buffer for your blood sugar, preventing it from crashing.

You can also add cape gooseberries for an extra sweet and tropical twist. These rare berries, sometimes called “goldenberries,” hail from Peru. Each one is bursting with sweet and tangy citrus flavor, and they can add a special zing to your smoothie. Be careful if you add cape gooseberries, though. Once you try them though, you’re going to be hooked.
