Ways to Increase Your Daily Green Living

Earth Day is on April 22, and it’s just right around the corner. Now is a great time to think about how you could incorporate some “Green Living” into your life. It’s important to think about how we can make little changes in our lives by how we live every day. At Relive Everyday we are health conscious but also concerned about our impact on the world around us. Every little change counts, and together we can make the world a greener place to live! Here are some ways that you, as a consumer, can add some “Green Living” into your life:

SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE CBD COMPANY

It might sound cliché, but support your favorite CBD brand! Perhaps you’ve already found a CBD product that you love, or maybe you’re still searching for your favorite product. Either way, you are on a journey into the fascinating world of hemp. By the way, cannabidiol, better known as CBD, is one of the most abundant cannabinoids (chemical compounds) found in the hemp plant.

Supporting your favorite CBD brand indirectly supports the farmers who grow hemp plants, and growing hemp plants helps the environment. In general, hemp crops do not need as much water to grow as other crops like cotton or corn. Another fun fact about hemp is that hemp plants can help heal the soil. This is through a natural process called phytoremediation. Phytoremediation is where the roots of a fast-growing plant absorb any contaminants in the soil, like heavy metals. Hemp plants are (still) currently being used to help clean the soil around Chernobyl and other locations with massive soil contaminations. We would like to note that hemp used for phytoremediation projects is not used to produce hemp oil. Hemp is such a cool plant!

Incorporate Hemp-Derived Products in Your Life

Did you know that hemp can be used in many ways? There are many uses for hemp beyond crafting it into your favorite CBD product. Hemp has fibers in the stalk that can be used to make ropes, fabric to make clothes, and can even be made into biodegradable plastic! Hemp seeds are packed with nutrition with lots of omega-3’s, fiber, protein, and vitamins like B-6, iron, and zinc. You can even turn hemp seeds into a yummy spread.

  • Easy Hemp Seed Butter
  • 1 cup of hemp hearts
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
  • 2 Tablespoons honey (or to taste)
  • Pinch of salt

Combine ingredients into a blender or food processor for about 30 seconds. Scrape and repeat until desired consistency is reached. If the spread is too thick, add more coconut oil. Store in a glass container in the refrigerator. Good for about 2 weeks. For added flavor, try adding a bit of cocoa powder or cinnamon.

RE-USE OR RECYCLE USED PRODUCT CONTAINERS

Another great way to help the planet is to recycle the containers that your favorite CBD products come in. If recycling is not available in the area you live, never fear, because you can re-purpose those containers! The glass containers from Re-Align make great storage containers for beads, jewelry, etc. The plastic gummy jars could work well for starting seeds. For the tincture jars, wash them out well and use them as mini vases for your favorite flowers!

Support the Pollination Population…Bees!

Speaking of flowers, another great way to increase your Green Living is to plant lots of flowers in your yard. You’ll be amazed at how many butterflies and bees check out the flowers you plant. Flowers don’t just provide beauty to the eyes, but are vital to the survival of many different species of bees. Without bees, in particular honeybees, the world would be a different place entirely. Most of the world’s food crops depend on bees’ pollination. And while hemp doesn’t require insect pollination, honeybees do collect pollen from hemp!

There are almost endless ways you could increase your Green Living and make the world a greener place to live. You don’t have to become a hemp farmer or keep bees to impact the world. However, you can do what you can do, and that will make a positive difference. So while Earth Day might only be celebrated once a year, you have the power to change the world one day at a time.
