What is CBN?
You’ve heard of CBD and THC, which are the best-known cannabinoids. The cannabis plant contains at least 100 cannabinoids. CBN, which is short for cannabinol (a non-psychoactive compound naturally created when THC ages and oxidizes by exposure to heat and light). Some sources know CBN as the “sleepy” cannabinoid for the potential sedative effect it produces. CBN also could aid as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and neuroprotectant. Studies also show it can reduce ocular pressure, a critical factor in glaucoma.
CBN + CBD
Cannabinoids can be potent when they work together synergistically, the way they do naturally in plants. That’s one reason broad-spectrum hemp extracts may have many benefits and have become increasingly popular over the last few years.
When CBN works in synergy with CBD, it may act as a pain reliever. Chronic pain can cause people to wake up regularly in the middle of the night and leads to common sleep complaints. Like CBD, CBN interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system and could impact the function of hormones, neurotransmitters, energy, focus, mood, and appetite. While the research into CBN is not as exhaustive as THC and CBD, it shows that CBD and CBN could be influential in relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and improving sleep.
